When you’re buying business laptops, performance and comfort are huge factors. Not only do you need to make sure that the PC is up to compute-intensive tasks like video editing or 3D modeling, you also need to know the noise level of the laptop and how hot its underside or surface area can get. All those factors and more can also affect your experience. Whether you’re buying for yourself or for colleagues, getting the facts is vital. Fortunately, our recent studies dig deeper into laptop performance and experience.
In two studies, we compared the HP EliteBook 645 G9 Notebook PC to the Dell Latitude 5430 and Dell Latitude 5420 laptops and the HP EliteBook 845 G9 Notebook PC to the Dell Latitude 7430 laptop and the Dell Latitude 7420 laptop. The HP EliteBooks employed AMD Ryzen 7 Pro processors, while the Dell laptops used Intel Core i7 processors. In both comparisons, we found the HP EliteBooks to have a longer battery life, better performance scores, and cooler surface temperatures than their Dell laptop competitors.
Using eight industry-standard performance benchmarks, we also compared an AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 5675U processor-enabled HP EliteBook 645 G9 to a Dell Latitude 5420 with the Intel Core i5-1145G7 processor, as well as an AMD Ryzen 7 PRO 5875U processor-enabled HP EliteBook 655 G9 to Dell Latitude 5520 with the Intel Core i7-1185G7 processor. In both comparisons, the computers featuring AMD processors outperformed or were comparable to their competitors. They also were cooler in temperature overall.
